Ionic Bonds

• The complete transfer of valence electrons between atoms
• Ionic bond occurs between positive metal ions and negative non-metal ions

Writing Ionic Formula

1. Identify the Cation and Anion
2. Balance the changes
3. Write the Formula - cation first, using the subscript from the charge balance
